Strengthening Ukraine’s Voice in European Innovation Governance

Climate Engine is pleased to highlight an institutional-capacity success story demonstrating how participation in European innovation projects can strengthen international visibility, professional networks, and strategic engagement in the European research and innovation ecosystem.

Following active involvement in the EIT HEI projects ILCA, Innovation Laboratories for Climate Actions, and Climate Engine, Anton Tkachenko, Head of Economics Department, Ph.D., Senior Researcher, was selected as a Ukrainian representative to the Horizon Europe Programme Committee on the European Innovation Council and European Innovation Ecosystems under the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

The appointment, formalized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in December 2025, reflects the growing participation of Ukrainian experts in European innovation policy dialogue and Horizon Europe-related governance.

Climate Engine contributed to this development by providing opportunities for international cooperation, stakeholder engagement, innovation ecosystem development, and capacity building. Through the project, Anton Tkachenko coordinated international communication activities, supported collaboration between Ukrainian and European stakeholders, and contributed to initiatives focused on innovation and entrepreneurship.

These activities strengthened his international experience, professional visibility, and engagement with European innovation ecosystems. His application for the national selection process highlighted leadership in ILCA, experience in international cooperation, and commitment to integrating Ukrainian research and innovation into the European ecosystem.

The appointment supports stronger links between Ukrainian and European research and innovation communities. It also creates additional opportunities to disseminate Horizon Europe developments, promote stakeholder engagement, and support the integration of Ukrainian researchers and innovators into European innovation ecosystems.

This success story illustrates how Climate Engine contributes not only to project-level collaboration, but also to broader institutional capacity building and Ukraine’s deeper participation in the European research and innovation landscape.
