From Academic Expertise to Green Innovation: Climate-Resilient Business Transformation of LLC “FLYHUB”

Climate Engine is proud to highlight a success story demonstrating how university expertise can support business transformation, climate resilience, and green innovation in a high-tech manufacturing context.
LLC “FLYHUB” is a Chernivtsi-based manufacturer of unmanned aerial vehicles and flying objects operating in the high-tech production sector. As a dynamic innovation-oriented enterprise, the company faced an important strategic challenge: its operational model and business processes required further adaptation to climate resilience, green regulation compliance, and sustainable resource management.
Without a structured framework for environmental risk assessment and climate-aligned planning, the company risked falling behind in an increasingly sustainability-driven European market. It also faced the possibility of missing opportunities linked to green innovation financing and climate-oriented business development.
Climate Engine’s Contribution
Climate Engine created the institutional foundation for this academy–business partnership.
Within the framework of the Climate Engine / EIT HEI initiative, Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University and LLC “FLYHUB” formalized their cooperation through a signed Memorandum of Cooperation and a Scientific Mentoring Agreement in 2026.
This formal partnership enabled Assoc. Prof. Viktoriia Kyfyak from the Department of Business and Personnel Management at CHNU to lead a dedicated six-month mentoring engagement. Through this process, structured academic methodology was applied directly to the company’s operational and strategic development.
The cooperation demonstrated how Climate Engine can connect academic expertise with business needs and support companies in building more resilient, sustainable, and innovation-ready operational models.
The Solution Introduced
Assoc. Prof. Viktoriia Kyfyak directly led the six-month mentoring process, applying her expertise in business analysis, project management, and human resource management.
The CHNU team conducted an in-depth analysis of LLC “FLYHUB”’s core business processes and supported their redesign through the integration of environmental risk modelling, climate-resilient planning frameworks, and agile resource management principles.
The mentoring process also included the development of a climate-resilient business plan, identification of relevant grant financing opportunities, and establishment of a replicable academy–industry cooperation model under the Climate Engine umbrella.
Through this structured intervention, the company’s internal workflows were transformed into more secure, sustainable, and regulation-ready commercial pipelines.
Expected Benefits and Impact
The collaboration generated important expected benefits for LLC “FLYHUB” and for the wider regional innovation ecosystem.
As a result of the mentoring process, the enterprise’s long-term corporate resilience is estimated to increase by 35%. The redesigned business processes are expected to strengthen the company’s capacity to respond to environmental risks, improve sustainable resource management, and align more effectively with emerging green regulations and market expectations.
Beyond internal process improvement, the collaboration helped identify and connect LLC “FLYHUB” with relevant grant financing instruments for green innovation in the UAV manufacturing sector. This creates a stronger basis for future investment, innovation development, and sustainability-oriented growth.
The signed Memorandum of Cooperation also established a long-term institutional channel for student internships, joint research and development, and startup mentorship. This strengthens the relationship between academia and industry while creating new opportunities for students, researchers, and entrepreneurs.
