CO-FOREST – Extending Climate Engine's Impact Through New Partnerships and Forestry Education

Building on Climate Engine Beyond the Project

CO-FOREST demonstrates how Climate Engine has generated lasting impact beyond its own activities by supporting the development of new partnerships, new funding opportunities, and new education-focused initiatives.

The Erasmus+ funded project focuses on strengthening forestry education for climate resilience, innovation, and entrepreneurship. By transferring experience gained through Climate Engine into the forestry sector, CO-FOREST supports the development of practical, challenge-driven learning for forestry professionals, students, and stakeholders.

How Climate Engine Contributed

CO-FOREST builds directly on the collaboration established through Climate Engine. Four organisations that worked together in Climate Engine—ISPIM, Estonian Business School, Savonia University of Applied Sciences, and the University of Forestry, Bulgaria—continue their cooperation within the new initiative.

Their continued partnership reflects the strong foundation created through Climate Engine, where complementary expertise was brought together, trust was established, and opportunities for further collaborative project development emerged.

The partners' shared experience in climate innovation education and interdisciplinary capacity building provided the basis for designing CO-FOREST as a follow-on Erasmus+ project.

A further connection between the two initiatives is the Impact Pathway methodology, developed and tested within Climate Engine. The experience gained through this approach to scenario thinking and adaptive planning provides an important methodological link that supports CO-FOREST's educational activities.

Outcomes and Impact

CO-FOREST extends the impact of Climate Engine into the field of climate-resilient forestry education through a new Erasmus+ funded initiative.

The project develops practical learning resources and challenge-driven educational approaches designed for forestry professionals, students, and stakeholders, with a focus on climate adaptation, innovation, and entrepreneurial skills.

By maintaining collaboration among four Climate Engine partners and applying methods developed within the project to a new sectoral context, CO-FOREST demonstrates how project-based cooperation can evolve into long-term education and innovation initiatives.
